How to Move a File From One Google Drive to Another

In this post are simple directions for how to move a file from one Google Drive to another.

Have you ever downloaded a Google file for school, only to have it get "stuck" in your home Google Drive? Or maybe a file you'd like in your home Google Drive won't seem to budge from your school Drive?

Below are simple directions for how to move a file from one Google Drive to another. I'll use the example of how to move a file from a school Google Drive to a personal Google Drive because I have gotten this question a lot!

How to Move a File Between Google Drive Accounts:

Step 1: Go into your school Google Drive.

Step 2: Right click on the file you want to move and click "share".

Step 3: Change the bottom to "anyone with the link can edit" and click DONE.

Step 4: Right click on the file again and share with your home email address (enter it at the top of the pop up window).

Step 5: Go into your home Google Drive.

Step 6: Go into "shared with me" and right click on the file to "make a copy" This copy is now in your home Drive and not connected to the one in your school Drive.

That's it! Now you have the file in both of your Google Dive accounts!
