"My Advice to Next Year's Students" end of school activity

Older students love mentoring younger students! They love feeling like a teacher and an authority on a subject-- any subject! So with this end-of-year activity, I considered these two perspectives. Younger kids are longing for guidance on what to expect in their new classrooms and from their new teachers and older kids are excited to give their best advice. This is not a new activity in my tpt store. It's been in there for a few years. But like a lot of my math activities, I updated this "My Advice to Next Year's Students" pennant with a digital GOOGLE Slides version this year.

Do you remember being in school and thinking that the older kids were SO much older, taller and knew so much more than you? I grew up with a younger brother so maybe this was more true for me, but I'd always think that older kids knew everything. I'd hang on their words, especially about what to expect in school. And at
the same time, older students love mentoring younger students! They love feeling like a teacher and an authority on a subject-- any subject!

This is not a new activity, I made it a few years ago. But like a lot of my math activities, this "My Advice to Next Year's Students" pennant got its GOOGLE makeover this year. Ms. LeMaster @masterlemaster tagged me in her Instagram story of one of these new digital versions (there are 12 digital-- 6 in color and 6 in black and white, that students can choose from, plus the original 6 printable versions).

"Lastly, enjoy being in her class because she is an amazing teacher!"

:)

I've gotten a lot of great feedback on this activity. With the printable versions, students in your classroom this year can write their advice and decorate their pennants, creating colorful student-made décor for the start of next school year. Students can read their mentors' advice as they glance around the room or you can send students on a gallery walk.

Now with the digital versions, students can type their advice and either print their pennants or share them back with you. Students can take photos (maybe even of them holding their pennants) to send to you or share their digital versions back with you. It's really up to you how you use this activity.
